Again no chugging and chuntering such as other printers might do to "prime" systems and the "join" was invisible in the finished print. Other benefits were that I could run a cartridge to complete emptiness and change it in the middle of a print. I could leave it unused for several weeks due to foreign travel and, when I went to use it again, it worked perfectly and immediately without any of the chugging and chuntering that some other printers were guilty of. In the 3 years I had it, I found it exceptionally economical in terms of ink consumption. Happily the problem has been overcome in the R3000 (which I used for 3 years before upgrading to a P600). So let's hope I haven't wasted my time and I'll reveal my selection at a later date on testing. I also bought a magic bullet as advised, a waste tank and key code. So basically in selecting i dismissed a couple on cost a couple on repeated clogging issues and one on bronzing.
I also noted that the vast majority of the forum threads I was getting this info from were pre 2014 and I'd like to think that there's so few recent ones because companies have now got their act together and it's not the minefield that it once was. In fact one American manufacturers ink was cheaper from the States than getting it from France!Ī reoccurring theme with certain inks was nozzle clogging, bronzing and fading. The American choices were reasonably priced including the postage costs matching some UK inks, but the threat of the excise man slapping his fees on top wasn't I thought worth the risk. There's probably about six serious contenders out there all claiming to be the best with maybe a £80 spread between the most expensive to cheapest.This being for the nine cartridges, syringes and around 1000mls of ink. I can honesty tell you all that deciding upon which supplier to go for has been the most difficult decision I've had to make in the photographic chain. Additional thanks to you all for your suggestions and you will be relieved to know that I've made a purchase.
